The Evolution of the Social Sector

In this session filmed at the 2018 On Board conference in Chicago, Chicago Booth professor Robert H. Gertner will discuss the different structures that have emerged as the social sector has evolved and grown.

The lecture will address questions such as: How can we understand the changes occurring in the social, nonprofit, and profit sectors, how are we measuring social impact and do those measures create further impact, and is it possible for philanthropic investing to exist? In working to answer these questions, Professor Gertner will touch on topics as varied as the blurring lines between nonprofits, for profits, and government institutions, impact investing, the role of millennials, and how social innovation occurs and the way it diffuses in the social sector.
