The MiM is for students who pursued undergraduate degrees in the liberal arts—such as history, literature, or psychology—or in STEM fields, including astronomy, biology, and computer science. Unlike the MBA, which typically attracts students who are in a midstage of their career, the MiM is for those recently out of college with little to no full-time work experience.

Who is the Master in Management program designed for?
Our Master in Management is really designed for creative, ambitious, big thinkers, who may be pretty close in time to graduating from college or a few years beyond that.
Students who will come into the Master in Management will come from either STEM fields or the liberal arts: humanities, international relations, different social sciences.
Who we think will not head into the Master in Management would be undergraduates who studied business as an undergraduate.
But the Master in Management is designed for those coming from other fields who are looking to transition into the world of business.
How is the Master in Management program different than the MBA?
Really, this is about how much work experience you have, and where you want to go with these two different degrees.
The Master in Management has been designed for someone who does not have a whole lot of full-time work experience.
Master in Management and MBA, we see as both very compelling degrees to help someone show up as a professional in the business world. One’s more at an early stage of your career, and the other is more at a mid-stage in your career.
How will this program accelerate my professional development?
One unique aspect of the Master in Management is that we have a two-week bootcamp at the very start of the program.
And we actually call it, not bootcamp, but “Booth Camp.”
And the Booth camp is two weeks of professional development.
There are two aspects to that. The first is that it will help you learn more about yourself: What skills do you have? What are you really good at? What are you passionate about? And what kind of career is right for you?
The second is really to master the skills that are associated with different career paths. We’ve got lots of skill development that will be part of that two-week Booth camp.

Absolutely. The way we’ve designed the MiM is that your first five classes will be cohorted with the other MiM students. You’ll get to know them well and form many lifelong friendships. Those classmates will be part of the network that you take with you when you graduate, and they’ll support you far beyond your time here at Booth.
You’ll also have opportunities to connect with and learn from current MBA students, as well as the more than 10,000 graduate students across the University of Chicago. You’ll have access to both Booth- and UChicago-sponsored events, where you can network with these fellow students as well as our world-class faculty and business leaders from a wide range of industries.
Booth MBA alumni have gone on to lead in every industry, in every sector. Similarly, we anticipate that graduates of the MiM Program will be working in a broad range of industries, including consumer products, technology, financial services, and consulting.
The big difference is that MiM graduates will be coming in closer to the entry level, while MBAs are going in at the associate level. The MiM is really designed for people who want to apply their passions that they studied as an undergrad and get the best first step in the world of business.
Our Career Services team at Chicago Booth is quite robust. We have trained and served about 56,000 Booth alumni, who are all over the world working in different industries.
For the MiM, there will be dedicated career support from Career Services—things such as career coaching and career management. Professional development and skills training will set you up for the career you want to pursue.
The MiM will have five areas of specialization—analytics, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, and strategic management. Based on your area, we’ll have specific career resources that we hope will help you land your dream job after graduation.
Chicago is the third largest city in the United States, and you’ll have the plethora of opportunities this amazing city offers right at your fingertips, including world-class museums, vibrant festivals, and an impeccable restaurant scene.
On campus, you’ll have access to a wealth of student groups and activities where you can meet people who share your unique hobbies and interests. Inside the classroom, you’ll get to connect with MBA students and learn from the best faculty in the world. They’re experts in negotiation, behavioral science, social impact, the fundamentals of finance, entrepreneurship, and much more.

Who will I be learning from?
In the Master in Management program at Booth you are learning from our Booth faculty, the same faculty who teach in our MBA programs.
The faculty are the best in the world and the best in their fields—whether it’s finance, behavioral science, marketing. And you are gonna be learning from the best of the best, including, we have four Nobel Prize winners active on our faculty.
Okay, next question. How big will the first class be?
So this program, the Master in Management will be cohorted and no cohort will be greater than 50 students. We may have more than one cohort, but you will have the opportunity as part of your cohort to really form very close connections with your fellow classmates. And the cohorts are small enough that those connections are meant to be deep and the foundation of a really long lasting friendship that you have with your classmates.
Will I be taking classes with MBA students?
Yes, you will, some of them. Some of your classes will be cohorted with only your Master in Management classmates but some of your classes, your electives, you’ll be woven in with our MBA students and sitting side by side with them, being in study groups with them, and learning together with them in the area that you have chosen to specialize in.
What social opportunities will students have outside the classroom?
Our student life team is designing these great opportunities for you right now. We will have some very special socials that are part of the Master in Management program, chances for you to get to know your classmates beyond sitting next to them in class.
But I’ll say also that being in Chicago you’re gonna have so many social opportunities to get to really explore and live in a great, great city.
