The Master in Management Program is for recent college graduates who were non-business focused and are interested in exploring business.
College graduates with a non-business major, who will have finished their undergraduate degree between May 2022 and August 2024, are eligible to apply. Those who completed their undergraduate degree prior to May 2022 are not eligible for the Master in Management Program and should explore our MBA Programs.

In evaluating your candidacy for the Master in Management Program, we take a holistic approach that considers every component of your application. We evaluate your application in six broad areas:
We look for an applicant’s ability to be successful in the classroom. We seek out evidence of academic aptitude by reviewing success in academic settings, on standardized tests, and in quantitative work (through either academic or work experience).
The areas we examine are:
We look for how well an applicant is able to communicate in writing and through oral communication. In particular, we are interested in understanding a candidate’s ability to be an active participant in discussions and debate topics.

We evaluate an applicant’s overall confidence level and leadership potential. We define this as a strong understanding of and belief in self, a sense of passion for one’s interests, the ability to communicate with conviction, social warmth and gregariousness, and humility.

We evaluate the applicant’s ability to work well with others. In particular, we examine the extent to which applicants are able to be active listeners, their ability to recognize how one’s actions and feelings affect others, and their understanding of group dynamics.

We evaluate the extent to which applicants have demonstrated an active interest in understanding the world around them, a thirst for learning and knowledge, and dedication of time and energy to learning and understanding areas of interest.

Assessment of self-awareness is based on the following criteria: displaying critical introspection and a keen understanding of one’s personality, strengths, weaknesses; demonstrating the ability to accept and incorporate feedback; and exercising sound judgment and decision-making.

To be considered for admission to the Master in Management Program, you must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited US college or university or its equivalent in another country.
You also need to submit your scores on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE).
All international students whose native language is not English must take either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the academic version of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Pearson Test of English (PTE).

The Master in Management Program at Booth is for those who earned a non-business undergraduate degree in the liberal arts or STEM fields, such as:
Students who graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or UChicago BA in Economics with Specialization in Business Economics are not eligible for the Master in Management Program. If this is your academic background, we would encourage you to consider our deferred MBA program, Chicago Booth Scholars. Applicants are required to have taken at minimum one quantitative class such as college-level math or statistics.
All applicants are required to submit a valid GMAT or GRE test score, unless they qualify for a test waiver.
Graduates of non-US institutions will qualify for a test waiver if they have taken a minimum of three quantitative/STEM classes and have a converted GPA of 3.4 or greater on a 4.0 scale. Conversion calculators can be helpful is determining your grade point average, however, please note you will need to submit a verified credential evaluation from our preferred service upon offer acceptance.
For all other applicants, the GRE or GMAT is required.

The application for the inaugural Master in Management class will open on September 1, 2023, with classes beginning in fall 2024.
