- Application Tips
We know the application process can feel daunting. Our Admissions team seeks to help by sharing a series of blogs that break down the online application and offer practical tips along the way. In this blog, we’re focusing on the transcripts and academic record section to make the process smoother.
Be sure the information entered into the Academics section of the application matches your transcripts: dates of attendance, degree earned, institution, and GPA. Answer all questions. If you received a failing grade, please answer yes to that question within the application. We will see all grades on your transcripts, so it is best to be transparent and provide context where needed.
When adding institutions, please list all schools that you have attended (both degree and non-degree). For each institution you list, you will also need to provide the start and end dates, level of study (undergraduate and/or master’s), and the date your degree was conferred or is expected to be conferred. Additionally, you’ll be asked to share more specific information regarding your degree/program and academic performance. Lastly, within this section you will be asked to upload a scanned copy or digital facsimile of your transcript for each institution listed.
At the time you apply, we only require unofficial copies of your transcripts, which you upload directly into your application. We need documents that show all courses taken, grades, degree earned, and date degree was conferred. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept official transcripts prior to admission and request that you refrain from sending them to us. At the time of admission, we will follow up with further instructions for submitting official transcripts. If you earned a degree outside of the US and your unofficial transcripts are not in English, please also upload copies that have been translated into English.
If you took courses elsewhere that transferred into your undergraduate or graduate degree, you need to list the school and provide transcripts only if the course titles and grades earned are not listed on your degree-granting institution’s transcript. Schools list transfer credits and courses differently. Look closely at your transcripts to see if you need to include your transfer credit school and transcripts. If you are unsure, reach out to the Admissions team. We are happy to help.
Don't leave GPA blank when adding institutions you attended unless it is not printed on the transcript. Record the GPA and scale (e.g. 3.7 on 4.0 scale), and there is no need to recalculate the GPA if it is not on a 4.0 scale. If you have a Class Rank and/or Class Size, please include or otherwise leave blank.
We understand that your past academic performance and GPA are fixed. If you feel your academic record is an area of weakness, focus on scoring well on the GMAT, GRE, or Executive Assessment (Part-Time application only) and emphasizing your strengths in other parts of your application. We know you have changed and developed from when you were an undergraduate student, and we take this into consideration when reviewing your application holistically. We hope this helps as you move through the application process. Feel free to reach out to our Part-Time or Full-Time Admissions team with any questions as you work on your application.
