Darwin Ling, ’15 (XP-84)
Former Co-Founder and CTO
Darwin Ling is an entrepreneur, technologist, angel investor, and mentor/advisor for various startups. Most recently, Darwin served as the CTO and co-founder of SmarterMe, which aims to improves sales productivity by bringing AI / Intelligence to the flow of work. Counting enterprise customers such as Danaher (Fortune 500 medical device), Home Depot and GE, SmarterMe was recently acquired.
Prior to that, Darwin was a founding member of Skyfire (mobile browser, acquired by Opera), Jaxtr (social calling, acquired by Hotmail founder), Dazel (enterprise printing , acquired by HP).
Darwin also serves as an advisory board member for Alpha Info, an industry 4.0 company that uses advanced technologies such as Big Data Analytics, IoT, Cloud Computing, AOI (Automatic Optical Inspection), Machine Vision to streamline the automation for some of the leading semiconductor foundries/manufacturers in China/Taiwan.
As an investor, Darwin developed quite a knack for picking winners at their early stages. They include SoFi (fintech, student loans), UpCounsel (marketplace for lawyers), and BlackStorm Labs (gaming infrastructure).
Darwin received his MBA (Honors) from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also holds a BS and MS in Computer Science and Mathematics from Purdue University with distinction.
