It’s been a year of worldwide upheaval. The United States has a president unlike any other in its history, Great Britain is undertaking the biggest change in its political life with Brexit, and India is on course to top China for growth.

While the world’s economy is growing strongly and, at last, the idea of “normalization” is gaining hold, alarmists argue that economic tightening will trigger economic disruption. Looming in the background is a mountain of debt that makes markets nervous and increases the system’s vulnerability to destabilising shocks.

Chicago Booth is delighted to host an insightful discussion with Raghuram G. Rajan, Katherine Dusak Miller Distinguished Service Professor of Finance, on 16 May 2018 at Booth’s London campus. Rajan was the former governor of the Reserve Bank of India between 2013-16, and formerly chief economist and director of research at the International Monetary Fund. Martin Wolf, associate editor and chief economics commentator of the Financial Times, will moderate the event.

Join students, alumni, and industry professionals for this unique opportunity to learn from one of the most influential economists of our time, who will provide his insights into what stands in the way of global economic growth in 2018.
