The Booth Wellness team was created in 2019 to support the overall well-being of students during the MBA experience. Their mission is to build a culture that encourages well-being as a facilitator of success rather than something to sacrifice on the way to professional success.
Booth Wellness takes a holistic approach to wellness and incorporates eight different dimensions: physical, emotional, social, spiritual, professional, financial, intellectual, and environmental. Each of these areas influences how we feel, live, and lead. Part of their work is to build awareness of these aspects of wellness, and help students be intentional about how they are taking care of themselves. Boothies are a high achieving population who fully invest their time and energy into their classes, professional journeys, and building community. As such, it’s even more important to invest in their well-being so they can fully engage in their experience in a sustainable way.
To facilitate this, Booth Wellness offers a range of programming and support for students throughout their time at Booth. Their programs include a Wellness Speaker Series, where they bring in leaders and experts in the wellness space; weekly yoga classes on campus; fitness classes; stress relief pop-ups like Wags for Wellness (therapy dogs), snack breaks, and plant giveaways; interactive workshops; and, wellness partnerships with companies like Headspace, ClassPass, and Divvy. They also offer a wellness coaching program and work with students individually to support them during their time at Booth. This year Booth Wellness also launched the Wellness Fellows Program, a student wellness leadership opportunity in the Full-Time Program. Wellness Fellows provide student voice and feedback on the MBA experience, and create wellness events and initiatives for the community.
Since Booth Wellness is a relatively new addition to Booth, they are focusing on building awareness of wellness in general while promoting the resources available to students. Between Booth Wellness and the University’s wellness resources, there is truly something for everyone. They are also excited to build more peer-to-peer opportunities that allow people to connect with each other and build relationships and community. Just as in life, there are ups and downs within business school. By sharing the joys and struggles, students can support each other versus feeling alone in their experience. While focusing on individual wellness actions is important, the power of connection and community is critical to our individual and collective well-being.
