Ask a Boothie: How has the Booth community come together during the pandemic?
When the Full-Time MBA unexpectedly transitioned to a virtual experience, Boothies had to adapt quickly to their new environment. Beyond navigating a hybrid class model and virtual recruiting, our MBAs were faced with the challenge of forming new and strong connections online. In our latest "Ask A Boothie", current Full-Time MBAs share exactly how they formed that community of support, and what it has meant to them throughout the global pandemic.
Speaker 1:
While it has been hard, I think sometimes struggle bonds people together in a stronger way.
Speaker 2:
Coming out of starting quarantine and COVID, I think people were particularly thoughtful about trying to find creative ways to get to know each other.
Speaker 3:
It's really been a testament to how students at Booth can take things into their own hands to make the best of a situation.
Speaker 4:
Every single club tried to adapt to having virtual events.
Speaker 5:
We found ways to do cooking events or movie watching or watch the Superbowl together.
Speaker 6:
I really enjoyed a virtual dance workshop with the Booth Dance Club.
Speaker 7:
We had approximately a hundred Boothies come to the Bingo Night call, and we were having a musical bingo.
Speaker 8:
There was this cohort scavenger hunt where we were just basically assigned to do random stuff. It was one of the most original events.
Speaker 9:
There are still ways to connect in these socially-distanced, responsible ways, and I think that makes a difference to remember you're not the only one going through this and that we're not just squares on Zoom all the time.
Speaker 10:
I never expected that it would be this great from a classroom perspective, that it would be this social, and honestly, this much fun, even with all of the restrictions that we have.
Speaker 11:
The way I felt supported by my classmates and my friends has been really, really great.
Speaker 12:
I surely would not have hoped to go through that on my own, so I was very thankful to have my friends so that we could really navigate this challenge through together.
