The Oral History Project Overview and Frequently Asked Questions
The deadline for submitting memories has passed, and PCI is now focused on creating a book of Booth alumni stories, which is available for purchase.
Frequently Asked Questions
Below are answers to questions that we anticipate some of our alumni may have.
I received an email/postcard/phone call from PCI asking for my personal information and a story about Booth. Is this legitimate?
We have partnered with PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts, Inc.) to produce an Oral History Publication for the Booth community. PCI is a family-owned business based in Dallas, Texas that has published directories for educational institutions, fraternities, sororities, and military organizations across the United States for over 100 years.
This project allows us to hear about your personal experiences from your time at Booth and how the school and the relationships you formed there have helped shape your life since then. Plus, while we have you on the phone, we want to make sure your contact information is up to date.
Yes, in a few different ways:
- Updated Information—allows us to effectively communicate with and engage alumni
- Legacy—sharing and collecting stories preserves the history of our school
- Revenue—generates philanthropic support for Booth
- Pride—when you purchase Booth apparel as a part of the alumni story book package, using it shows your support for the school
PCI is committed to protecting your information. The names, addresses, and information provided to PCI for the publication of the Oral History Project will be held confidential by PCI, except to the extent that they are utilized in, or in the preparation of, the Oral History Project and except as required by court order or law. Upon completion of the project, PCI will redact PII (Personal Identifiable Information) from any and all electronic files that we have supplied or were produced by PCI in connection with the production of the Oral History Project.
Unfortunately, the deadline for submitting your story has passed. However, you may update your contact information directly with Chicago Booth at any time.
Should you wish to purchase a book at this stage, please contact PCI’s Customer Service team at 1.800.982.1590 or by email at email@example.com.
The only information that is included in the publication is your name, class year and degree, along with your story and photo. No contact information is printed. The contact information that you provided when you called PCI was only used to update your alumni record for the school. You may revoke consent for your story and/or photo to appear any time before February 24, 2023 by contacting PCI’s customer service help desk at 1.800.982.1590 or via email.
Yes, if you previously submitted a story to PCI, you have until February 24 to review it for the hardbound book. If you haven’t already received an email from PCI asking you to review your story, you should soon. You will have the option of making edits with an online tool or simply approving the story for inclusion.
You will receive an email with a link to upload one photo (in black-and-white or color) plus a caption.
If you have also purchased a book but do not have an email address on file, you will be sent a photo mailer to send in a physical photo to be printed. (Note: the photo will be returned if you include a self-addressed, stamped envelope).
The University of Chicago Booth School of Business Oral History Publication is available for sale only to Booth alumni.
Contact PCI’s customer service help desk at 1.800.982.1590, and they will take care of this for you.
