Mark Zmijewski

Sunil Kumar, Dean

George Pratt Shultz Professor of Operations Management

Kumar began his appointment as dean on January 1, 2011. He previously served as Fred H. Merrill Professor of Operations, Information, and Technology and as senior associate dean for academic affairs at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. In his role as senior associate dean, he oversaw the school’s MBA program and also led the faculty groups in marketing and organizational behavior. He received a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interests include performance evaluation and control of manufacturing systems, service operations, and communications networks.  

Stacy Kole

Stacey Kole, Deputy Dean for the Full-Time MBA Program

Clinical Professor of Economics

Kole joined Chicago Booth in 2004 from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester where she was associate dean for MBA programs. She earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in economics from the University of Chicago. She teaches a course on managing the workplace.

Robert H. Gertner

Robert H. Gertner, Joel F. Gemunder Professor of Strategy and Finance; Deputy Dean

Professor of Strategy and Finance; Deputy Dean

Robert H. Gertner has been on the Chicago Booth faculty since 1986. He received a bachelor’s degree summa cum laude in economics from Princeton University and a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research interests include strategic decision-making, corporate finance, organization structure, theory of the firm, and social enterprises. He teaches courses in strategic decision-making, entrepreneurial strategy, and social entrepreneurship.

Richard Leftwich

Richard Leftwich, Deputy Dean for Faculty

Fuji Bank and Heller Professor of Accounting and Finance

A native of Australia, Leftwich holds a master’s and PhD from the University of Rochester. He joined the Chicago Booth faculty in 1979 and has taught in all degree programs here. He previously was director of the Center for Research in Security Prices and is currently coeditor of the Journal of Accounting Research. He was named deputy dean in 2004. His research interests include audit qualifications, bond ratings, corporate charter changes, and block trades. He currently teaches courses on cases in financial management and financial analysis and strategy.
