How does a Booth MBA transform your career in healthcare?
We sat down with Boothies in the healthcare sector to weigh in on how their Booth MBA is preparing them for their career. Students going into the healthcare industry credit their MBA for helping them be a driving force for change. With Booth’s network, analytical frameworks, and much more, Boothies are better equipped to pursue a future in healthcare. Speaker 1: The reality of the world is that medicine is a business and in order to be a leader in that domain I wanted something that wasn't abstract. I wanted something that was, you know, technical and was really gonna push me to develop some new skills.
Speaker 2: Whatever your sector within healthcare, data is the driving force, so it makes sense to be here.
Speaker 3: I've taken Healthcare Data Analytics and that's helped me a lot, working with, I work with data morning to night at my job.
Speaker 2: We were able to use real life data and use a data science analytics platform to analyze big problems.
Speaker 3: I've also taken Healthcare Economics. That was really cool, kind of understanding how different incentive systems can give people different kind of motivations when they deliver care. So I was in the Chicago Booth Healthcare Club and it's other students in healthcare.
Speaker 1: We have people that I met who are working for dialysis clinics after graduation, people going into public policy, healthcare, consulting. There's all kinds of expertise and perspectives.
Speaker 3:And people that can tell me about their experiences and what it's like to work in their roles. And it really does kind of help me figure out kind of what direction I want to head in.
Speaker 1: The Healthcare Initiative has been excellent for me personally. And I know they're pulling together more and more with respect to health economics, more research into telehealth and these other kind of areas that are really emerging as kind of the next frontier for medicine. And I think the Healthcare Initiative is, you know, assembling itself around those kinds of ideas and moving forward.
Speaker 3: Coming to Booth I think has really helped me kind of open my eyes to the multitude of different career paths, you know, someone can head down.
Speaker 2: If a student came to me now to ask me about why healthcare and why Booth, I would say healthcare is the work of the now and the work of the future and Booth is the place to be.
