Students share what they appreciated most about the classroom experience studying abroad in London and highlight what made the opportunity so worthwhile.

Specialized Masters students at Chicago Booth have the opportunity to spend a quarter studying in London’s dynamic business ecosystem through a global study abroad hosted at our campus in the UK. The study abroad spans over 10 weeks during the Winter Quarter as students take classes at the Robert Rothman, ’77, London Campus, based in the heart of central London.

During the Winter 2026 Quarter, Master in Management and Master in Finance students had the opportunity to take courses focused around innovation, impact, and entrepreneurship on a global scale. The coursework for the recent study abroad included The Wealth of Nations, Global Entrepreneurship, Venture Capital and Private Equity, and Innovation Lab.

In part two of our series highlighting the Specialized Masters Study Abroad program, a couple of our current students share how they benefited from the global classroom experience studying in London. Read on to learn more about the benefits of the program directly from students who decided to take advantage of the newly offered study abroad opportunity.

Weirong Deng and a few other specialized masters students in classroom

Weirong Deng is a current student within Chicago Booth’s Master in Finance Program. Weirong is from Changshu, China. She graduated from New York University (Shanghai) with her bachelors in finance and hopes to pursue a career in financial risk management post-Booth.

“Learning in the classroom in London felt different from my experience in Chicago, with a stronger sense of cultural diversity and international perspectives. I particularly enjoyed the Global Entrepreneurship class. The course introduced cases from different emerging markets and featured guest speakers actively working in those regions. These interactions helped broaden my global perspective and made the academic experience feel very connected to real-world international business.” — Weirong Deng

Stephen Kallubhavi is a current student within Chicago Booth’s Master in Finance Program. Stephen is from Terre Haute, Indiana. He graduated from Indiana University with his bachelor’s degrees in mathematics, physics, and business management. Post-Booth, Stephen aspires to further his education with another professional degree in mathematics and explore potential startup opportunities with fellow students in hopes of fostering innovation within the technology-driven business landscape.

“The abroad classes have been very interesting and a vastly different experience than Chicago. Having an intensive 3-week course provides rigor and helps develop class discussion cohesively. The specific courses also gave significant depth into how international business operates. The faculty are all MBA-grade professors who care deeply about the SMP's success both inside and outside the classroom, and provide ample time and effort into educating us as well as developing discussions.” — Stephen Kallubhavi
