Biography

Anthony Welsch's research interests are in corporate taxation, multistate taxation, corporate investment, and tax administration using archival and field experimentation methods.  His aim is to produce research with practical implications that can assist policymakers, governmental agencies, managers, and other researchers. Welsch’s current research primarily focuses on multistate taxation, with an emphasis on examining fiscal outcomes, taxpayer decision-making, and firms’ investment behavior. He also has an interest in the intersection of taxes and ESG, and government accounting and finance.

Prior to pursuing a PhD, Welsch worked professionally as a CPA for six years performing state & local tax compliance and consulting services, mostly at EY in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

Welsch received a PhD in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.  Additionally, he earned a Master of Accountancy and a B.S. in Business from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
