Biography
Jennifer Fried is the CEO and Co-Founder of Flow Medical, developer of a next-generation thrombolysis catheter to treat pulmonary embolism. Flow Medical’s technology was invented at the University of Chicago Medical Center by Dr. Jonathan Paul and Dr. Osman Ahmed in 2020. Previously, Fried was the CEO/Co-Founder of Explorer Surgical, also a University of Chicago Medical Center spin-out. She started the company as an MBA student at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with surgeon researcher Dr. Alex Langerman and led the company from inception to successful exit to GHX in 2021.
Fried is also active as an investor, serving as a partner for Portfolia’s FemTech Fund as well as a partner at The Fund Midwest, and is an active angel investor and limited partner.
Previously, Fried was a Vice President at Park Lane Ventures, a healthcare-focused venture capital fund spun out of Essex Woodlands, after beginning her career as a consultant at Bain & Company in Chicago.
Fried earned a BA with honors from Northwestern University where she studied mathematical methods in the social sciences and economics. She also holds an MBA with honors from Chicago Booth with concentrations in finance and entrepreneurship.
