Get to Know Maria Isabel Aguayo, Class of 2024The interview is, for many, the most daunting part of the MBA admissions process; but it doesn’t have to be. You might think the objective is just to impress the interviewer, which is an imposing goal to say the least. Thankfully, you’ll find that the best and most frequently given advice from students who have been in your shoes, is to simply do what we do most naturally—breathe and be yourself.
Speaker 1:
If you're someone that was invited to interview with Chicago Booth, the one piece of advice I would give you is to just reflect, and be calm.
Speaker 4:
Just come in, relax. Enjoy the moment.
Speaker 2:
Relax. You've done the bulk of the work, and it's time to put your best foot forward. Let us know who you are.
Speaker 5:
And breathe. Breathing is also very important.
Speaker 3:
Check your anxiety at the door. It's a very approachable, fun interview experience.
Speaker 6:
Be really thoughtful about preparing for the interview and highlighting the things that are really important to you about the school and why it's a good fit.
Speaker 8:
Talk to a current student about Booth and why they like Booth, so that you get to know the program better.
Speaker 9:
It is a collaborative experience. You want to get to know them and the school as much as they want to get to know you.
Speaker 10:
Be personable. Bring out the fun, the weird, the geeky side of you into the interview.
Speaker 11:
Try to have a coherent story of why you want to get an MBA at Booth and why you want to do it now.
Speaker 12:
Learn how to structure an answer to a question.
Speaker 13:
Really show that you have imagined yourself here and you know how you're going to take advantage of everything the community has to offer and how you can give back as well.
Speaker 14:
I think it's really important to take that time, to do self- reflection, but also looking past on that journey and to see what really excited you and what you want to do in the future, because the future is limitless.
