Brown Bag with Laura Wallace

Laura Wallace is currently a Principal Researcher (postdoc) at Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. She will join Emory University's Goizueta Business School as an Assistant Professor of Organization and Management in July 2025. She completed her Ph.D. in social psychology at Ohio State University and her B.A. in Organizational Communications at Xavier University.

Business and Medical Ethics: Ensuring the Primacy of Patient Care

The symposium will explore how healthcare stakeholders today interact in the provision of healthcare; the extent to which social and political forces have engendered a lack of trust in the various constituents resulting in distrust of the systems of healthcare; and how ethical considerations in both medicine and business must intersect in order to ensure quality healthcare in the interest of the patients.

This symposium is presented by Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics, The MacLean Center at University of Chicago, the Healthcare Initiative, and Saint Louis University Bander Center for Medical Business Ethics.

2025 Chicago Booth Healthcare Analytics Lab - UChicago Medicine Project Showcase

Wednesday, March 12
The Healthcare Analytics Lab at Chicago Booth connects student teams with leading healthcare organizations to address pressing healthcare management issues through data analytics. The student teams will present their findings and recommendations resulting from 10 weeks of intensive analysis.

The Healthcare Analytics Laboratory recruits PhD students, MD students, residents, and MBA students with significant content expertise in healthcare to join the Lab as mentors, research assistants, and content experts.

Research Assistant (pre-doctoral)

The Healthcare Initiative and Professor Matt Notowidigdo are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to work as full-time research assistant for a period of at least one year. The preferred start date is July 1, 2025 although an earlier or later start is possible. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis; the initial full review will be February 17, 2025.

Healthcare Fellowship

The Booth Healthcare Fellowship is awarded each year to select incoming Full-Time MBA students with backgrounds in a care provider role (e.g. MD, RN, Social work in a healthcare setting).

The aim of the program is to provide tuition support, foster community among the Fellows, and provide additional access or support. Such areas of support include one-on-one conversations with distinguished speakers at events sponsored or co-sponsored by the Healthcare Initiative, covered fees for the annual Booth student-led Healthcare Conference and more programming.
