Each year, with the support of generous gifts from Booth alumni, we award the 75th Anniversary Scholarship to one outstanding Executive MBA student at each of our global campuses. This year’s recipients are a former officer in the Royal Air Force, a tech pioneer with two engineering degrees, and a VP for the world’s largest medical device company. Here are their stories.
After seven years with the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force, Miranda Mallows pivoted to the private sector and now works as chief of staff for an independent multifamily office in London. At Booth, she’s found the same team spirit that she experienced in the military. “I immediately felt an affinity with Boothies because they spoke about their time at Booth in the same way,” she says. “There is that same kind of connection for life.”

With an extensive background in engineering, RJ Miguel has done pioneering research and launched startups in the tech sector. When one of his companies was acquired by a much larger business, he realized he needed additional skills and turned to the Executive MBA Program in Hong Kong. “The life-changing experience and the cohort who will be your friends for life—you cannot put a monetary value on that,” he says.

As the pandemic wound down, Veronica Descotte found herself eager to reengage in learning and discovering new points of view. “I was looking for an experience that would take me outside my comfort zone and push me to think differently,” she says.
