Veterans and active military members are an important part of the Chicago Booth community, bringing valuable experiences and diverse perspectives to the classroom and beyond. We’ve built a reputation as a military-friendly place, and we’ve made recruiting veterans a top priority. Here, we share the stories of two current Full-Time MBA students whose military experiences are enriching our community.
Jack Lazebnik doesn’t come from a military family—in fact, his parents are both artists. But he found himself drawn to the uniquely challenging environment of West Point and set out on a life of service. As an active duty infantry officer in the US Army Rangers, he completed three combat deployments and one year in Korea across seven years of service. Today, he’s earning an MBA at Booth and preparing for a consulting career.

In eight years of service with the US Navy, Lance Gonzalez executed two deployments, led a division of 40 sailors, visited eight countries, and helped optimize and test-fly fighter jets. At Booth, he’s enjoying the school’s close-knit veterans community and looking forward to a career of helping organizations make socially responsible investment decisions.
