Minicourse Navigating Team Dynamics

The ability to understand and shape how teams work together is as critical for leaders today as ever. In this minicourse, Lisa Stefanac, MBA ’09, clinical professor of leadership, will teach you how to recognize the roles, languages, and systems that comprise team dynamics. You will learn to read situations, assess your own behavior, and use signals to improve outcomes. 

The ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus said, “You cannot step into the same river twice.” Likewise, you cannot join the same team meeting twice, even if it is called “Morning Standup” and occurs at the same time every day. The dynamics in the room shift as colleagues come to the table with new information, different levels of stress, and changing priorities. Even more so when people join the team, leave it, or take on additional responsibilities. 

If you are new to the principles of team dynamics, you will gain a practical foundation for understanding how teams function. If you have taken this minicourse with us before, you will have the opportunity to apply these concepts to your current team.

Schedule & Time Commitment

This minicourse meets on Zoom from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. CT on November 4, 11, 18, and December 3. 

Minicourses are designed to be manageable for working professionals. Live attendance is encouraged but not required. Recordings will be made available following each session. 

In addition, you may spend up to one hour each week on take-home assignments. To receive a certificate of completion, you must submit all assignments within a month of the final session.
