What is the CAAI Pre-Doctoral Program?
The Applied Machine Learning Pre-Doctoral Program offers two-year research opportunities for aspiring PhD students interested in machine learning, economics, social science, and related fields. Fellows work closely with Booth faculty on real research projects, gain hands-on experience across the full research pipeline, and receive academic guidance as they prepare for doctoral study.

Current CAAI Pre-Docs
Each fellowship award provides up to $1,000 to support a proposed AI-related initiative.
In addition to funding, fellows will have access to:
- Guidance and support from CAAI staff
- Opportunities to collaborate on CAAI events
- Connections with Booth alumni working in AI
- Opportunities to contribute short reflection or op-ed style pieces about their experience
Who Should Apply
We encourage applications from Booth students pursuing their MBA who:
- Are interested in artificial intelligence and its applications
- Want to attend AI-related conferences or events
- Have ideas for programming or initiatives that strengthen the AI community at Booth
- Are excited to engage with fellow students, faculty, and alumni in the AI ecosystem
