What are you reading?
I just finished Dragonfish, an emotionally penetrating debut novel by Vu Tran who teaches creative writing at the University of Chicago. Also, in preparation for teaching Leadership Capital this winter, I am also re-reading Top Down: Why Hierarchies are Here to Stay and How to Manage Them More Effectively. This is the last book written by one of my academic mentors, the late, great Hal Leavitt.
Who are your favorite authors?
Jonathan Eig is hands down my favorite author. He is simply the best narrative nonfiction writer on the planet. His latest, must-read book is The Birth of the Pill: How Four Crusaders Reinvented Sex and Launched a Revolution.
Who is your favorite literary hero?
Milo, the hero of Norton Juster’s The Phantom Tollbooth who goes on an adventure to “the Lands Beyond” to rescue the princesses of Rhyme and Reason.
What is your favorite book?
This is like asking which of my children I love the most. It is a question for which there is no answer.
What is your reading style: Hardcovers, softcovers, tablet, or smartphone?
Any form of paper.
Where do you read?
On trains and airplanes, but not in the car.
