Professor Ian Abbs is a physician, academic, and senior healthcare executive, currently serving as Interim Chief Medical Officer at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where he previously served as Chief Executive from 2019 to 2025. A renal physician by training, he has held senior clinical and executive leadership roles spanning more than three decades. His work has focused on healthcare transformation, clinical innovation, digital health, and strategic partnerships, including leading major organizational integration and digital transformation initiatives. He also chairs the Advisory Board of UCL’s Global Business School for Health and holds an MBA from the University of Cambridge.
