In this session, Kim McKesson highlights emerging trends, including increases in the number of first-time and female directors and changes in director skills and backgrounds. Kim is a Managing Director at Spencer Stuart where she leads the Global Retail Practice and the firm's Central division, applying her experience to help clients with their most challenging leadership needs.

Eileen Kamerick, JD'84, MBA'93 (Panelist)
Adjunct Professor, UChicago Law School

Eileen Kamerick serves as an adjunct professor at University of Chicago Law School, Washington University in St Louis College of Law, and University of Iowa College of Law and consults and lectures on corporate governance matters. She is an NACD Board Leadership Fellow. Previously, Ms. Kamerick served as Chief Financial Officer of Press Ganey Associates, a leading health care data analytics and informatics firm. Earlier, she had served as Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of Houlihan Lokey, an international advisory firm and investment bank. Previously, she was EVP and Chief Financial Officer of Heidrick & Struggles International, Inc., Leo Burnett, and BPAmoco Americas. She began her career as a lawyer at the law firm of Skadden Arps and she holds a JD and an MBA, with honors, in Finance and International Business from the University of Chicago. She graduated summa cum laude from Boston College and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Associated Banc-Corp, AIG Funds, Hochschild Mining, plc, and 27 closed end Legg Mason mutual funds. Previously, she served on the Board of Directors for ServiceMaster and IRI before both companies were purchased by private equity firms. She qualifies as an SEC financial expert. In addition to her corporate board roles, she serves on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club of Chicago and Christ the King Jesuit High School, a Cristo Rey Network school.

Beth L. Bronner, MBA'74 (Panelist)
President, LERA Associates

Beth Bronner is President of LERA Associates, a private investment firm focused on consumer companies. She has led both growth equity and turnaround investments primarily in the food and beverage sectors. Previously, she was a Partner and Managing Director of Mistral Equity Partners, LLC. Portfolio companies where she has held both private and public company board positions include Creminelli Fine Foods, Ruby Rockets, Independent Beverages, High West, Shearer's, Jamba Juice, and Country Pure Foods. Ms. Bronner has an outstanding track record having served as President of consumer businesses for Revlon, Haagen-Dazs and Sunbeam. In addition, she was Global Chief Marketing Officer of Beam spirits and Wine and has held senior marketing positions across a diverse group of consumer focused product and service industries. Ms Bronner's significant public board director experience includes Rice Bran Technologies, Assurant, Inc.(formerly Fortis), The Hain Celestial Group, Jamba Juice, Cool Brands International, Reddy Ice, Inc. and Oak Industries. She is currently chair of the Rice Bran compensation committee and serves on the audit committee. Ms Bronner received a B.A. from Vassar College and an M.B.A from the University of Chicago.

Ann Ziegler, JD'83 (Speaker)

Ann Ziegler previously served as senior vice president, chief financial officer and executive committee member of CDW, a leading provider of technology solutions for businesses, government, education and healthcare. Ann joined CDW following its go-private transaction in 2008 and successfully navigated the company's leveraged balance sheet through the 2008-2009 recession. Exiting the recession she lead initiatives that significantly improved CDW's working capital efficiency and doubled cash flow. In 2013, Ann played a key role in CDW's successful return to the public markets and through her retirement from CDW in December 2017, lead key initiatives including establishing and executing on medium term financial targets and a capital allocation strategy. Ziegler earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the College of William and Mary and a law degree from University of Chicago Law School. Ziegler serves on the Boards of Directors of Hanesbrands, Inc., Groupon, Wolters Kluwer, US Foods, Revolution Foods and The Smart Museum.
