Renée Berman (Speaker) '98
Managing Director, DTCC Digital Assets

Renée Berman is a Managing Director at DTCC Digital Assets. In this capacity, she focuses on exploring opportunities to leverage digital asset technology to create new and additional value for DTCC and its clients by reimagining the capital markets post-trade ecosystem. In her role, Renée collaborates with Clearing & Securities Services (CSS), clients and global peers to develop use cases to accelerate adoption of digital assets.

Prior to joining DTCC, Renée led Capital Markets Strategy at Broadridge where she drove strategy, corporate development, and strategic initiatives. Before that, she served as COO of Equity Derivatives Americas at Credit Suisse and as a Program Officer at the Credit Suisse Foundation and The Goldman Sachs Foundation.
Renée's background in organizational strategy spans more than 10 years and includes roles and consulting experience at Bain and The Bridgespan Group, Bain's affiliate which provides consulting to non-profit organizations.

Renée has an MBA from the University of Chicago, where she graduated with High Honors, and an undergraduate degree from Wharton.

Michael Cebo runs Fixed Income Data Solutions at Morgan Stanley. Prior to his time at Morgan Stanley, Mike worked at J.P. Morgan in London and in NY, having spent time in international business development and across commercial initiatives in data and analytics in NY. Mike has an MBA from the University of Chicago and Bachelors of Science degrees from Syracuse University.

Michael Fertman (Speaker) '97

Michael Fertman is a B2B Fintech Marketer who most recently led Product Marketing at Apex Fintech Solutions, the retail investment infrastructure powering hundreds of apps, including Ally, Sofi, and Stash. At Apex, he led the launch strategy and execution for new products.

Previously, he was VP and Head of Marketing at Apifiny, an Institutional Digital Asset Trading Platform, and at AlphaPoint, a white-label crypto exchange. Michael has also served as CMO of Guidepoint, an expert network, and VP of Product Marketing at D&B.

Michael's background spans over 20 years and several verticals, including SaaS and AI, before they were called SaaS and AI, consulting for Booz&Co, and independent consulting for VC- and PE-backed tech companies.

Michael is a former US Navy Officer with an MBA from the University of Chicago and an undergraduate degree from Wharton.

Joyce Shen (Moderator) '10
Investment and Operating Partner, Tenfore Holdings Adjunct Faculty, UC Berkeley

Joyce Shen is a venture capitalist and business builder. Since 2017, Joyce has invested institutional capital in early-stage technology startups and managed key investments for Tenfore Holdings. She has led investments in big data, AI, enterprise software, and cybersecurity. Joyce has also built the operational value-added portfolio management programs. Since 2016, Joyce has served as an adjunct data science faculty at the University of California Berkeley School of Information and received two Distinguished and Excellence in Teaching Awards. She has been a guest lecturer at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and at the Saïd Business School, the University of Oxford. From 2014 to 2017, Joyce was the Global Managing Director in the Office of the Chief Technology Officer at Thomson Reuters (Reuters News, Refinitiv, and Thomson Reuters).

From 2010-2014, Joyce was the founding Global Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operating Officer of IBM Cloud Platform responsible for a multi-billion P&L. During her tenure, Joyce also built the business case and operating plan for IBM Garage, a digital transformation service unit for IBM's largest enterprise clients.

Before IBM Cloud, Joyce led finance and operations of IBM Collaboration Solutions, restructured the Lotus business, and integrated the $1 billion Kenexa acquisition. From 2006 to 2008, Joyce was an M&A transactions lead at IBM Corporate Development. During her tenure in M&A, she led acquisitions over $6 billion and executed inorganic strategy in cloud, data management, and security.

Joyce received two bachelor's degrees in Statistics and Economics from the University of Chicago, where she worked two jobs as a research assistant for the former Chair of Political Science and a teaching assistant in Statistics. Joyce received an MBA with concentrations in Quantitative Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Strategy from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where she served as the President of the Stuart cohort. Joyce also completed graduate studies in economics and M&A law at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Neha Wattas (Speaker) '12
Executive Director, Fintech Partnerships, Commercial Banking, JP Morgan Chase

Neha Wattas leads B2B Payments FinTech partnerships at JPMorgan Chase's Global Banking division. In this role, she focuses on emerging trends in B2B Payments FinTech and explores opportunities for partnerships, strategic investments, and M&A. She co-authored the JPMorgan report "Payments are Eating the World." With 12 years at JPMorgan, Neha has held various strategy, product, and corporate development roles in New York and London across Consumer & Community Banking, Asset Management, and Commercial & Investment Banking. She is an alumna of JPMorgan's Management Associate Program, a global leadership development initiative.

Before joining JPMorgan, Neha was a management consultant for Fortune 500 Insurance and Financial Services clients, advising on growth strategy, organizational redesign, M&A integration, and complex program management. She holds an MBA in Finance & Entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and an MS in Information Security Policy Management from Carnegie Mellon University.

Outside of work, Neha is passionate about mental health and is training to become a Jungian psychoanalyst at the C.G. Jung Institute of New York.
