Event Details

Let us learn from our fellow Booth alums and authors of the effort and motivation behind writing a book. While reviewing 2 books, each author will discuss their process in a fun and interactive setting. We encourage that you pre-purchase the books to help facilitate an engaging conversation.

Open Our Minds ...to Unleash the CPU of Who We Are: Science of The Gita (Part 1)
About the book A simple introduction to the science, philosophy and logic in The Bhagvad Gita, and The Upanishads (ancient scriptures from India), with lots of stories drawing from history, contemporary events, science, technology, scriptures, and philosophy - this is done in the classic Q&A format between a teacher and his students, the Upanishadic way. The book is full of stories and examples that drive home the key points of (a) how to lead a fulfilling life and with purpose, and that (b) there is a scientific method to doing this. The final outcome for the reader will be the Great Five Faith and Focus, leading to Fearlessness, Freedom, and Fecundity of thought.

Parallel Entrepreneurship Journey
About the book This is an autobiography with a focus on how the life experiences from the author's childhood motivated him to pursue his entrepreneurial career. In spite of many odd circumstances, Justi illustrates, with real life examples, how he persisted. He also reminds us that asking for support, community involvement and learning from our own experiences are very important.

Speaker Profiles

Dr. Raj Gopalaswamy (Speaker) '04

Dr. Raj Gopalaswamy is currently Global Technology Director of Global R&D at Novelis, part of the Aditya Birla Group of companies. He was born in Chennai, did his engineering at BITS, Pilani, then MS and PhD in the US (MS&T, Rolla and Penn State), and MBA from Chicago Booth. Since childhood Raj has contemplated whether science and philosophy could mesh into a blended framework to bring about a unification rather than divergence of thought. In thinking through these questions, Raj has realized that starting with mental fortitude, a feeling of fulfillment, fearlessness, and a focused life full of purpose arises by following even a fraction of the teachings in The Bhagvad Gita and The Upanishads (ancient scriptures from India). His proposal for a SEES (Spiritualistic Evolutionary Empirical Science) can not only offer a purpose-filled, fulfilling life, but also solutions to the most intractable problems in modern science and philosophy, like the unification of the fundamental forces, and the purpose of our material existence.

Justifus Asir (Speaker)

Asir Justifus (Justi), with his 3 decades of collective experience in enterprise IT, startup companies as well as commercial trucking companies, he founded Tranzlogix Solutions in 2012. In 2015, the venture went through a Crowd Funding exercise and raised $500K. Later in 2018, it attracted another angel investor from Buckhead Atlanta (Rule 1 Ventures) and now it has been branded as TruckerCloud.com (Permission based transportation data management gateway, serving north America Market). Now Justi is leading TruckerGIG.com, a global marketplace for logistics and supply chain space.
