Ben Charoenwong (Speaker) '17
Head of Research and Co-founder, Chicago Global
Ben Charoenwong is head of research and co-founder of Chicago Global, a quantitative multi-strategy fund, and assistant professor of finance at the National University of Singapore where he teaches undergraduate and graduate-level courses on international finance and economics and quantitative methods. Ben's academic research is in investment adviser misconduct, financial regulation, and corporate finance.
Ben holds a Ph.D. in finance and MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he received the Eugene F. Fama and Fischer Black Ph.D. Fellowship and was an inaugural winner of the Fama-Miller Liew Ph.D. award. Prior to that, he graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor of science in honors economics, honors statistics, and financial mathematics.
Ben previously worked at Citadel Investment Group teaching new quantitative analysts coding, machine learning, and financial econometrics. He has also served as an expert consultant for LEK Consulting in applying machine-learning techniques in capital budgeting.
Peter J. Fort (Speaker) '02, Venture Capital and Structured Investments
Peter J Fort graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in international political economics, and also pursued studies at the National University of Singapore, Thammasat University, Thailand, and Tokyo International University, Japan.
He subsequently earned his Master of Business Administration degree, with a focus on Finance, from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he graduated first in his class.
Peter is a White House Presidential Scholar and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society. Peter is the managing partner at Silver Skyline Capital, a multi-strategy asset-management vehicle with a focus on real estate and equity investments. Silver Skyline Capital is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Peter previously worked with Morgan Stanley for 10 years as the Head of Mergers, Acquisitions (M&A), and Restructuring for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Relocating from New York to Dubai in 2006, Peter played an instrumental role in building Morgan Stanley's presence in the Middle East, leading over 50 international, regional and domestic M&A and restructuring transactions across a variety of sectors including energy, basic materials, industrial, transportation, aerospace, telecommunications, media, technology, financial institutions, infrastructure, utilities, and real estate. Following his investment banking career, Peter was the Senior Economic Advisor to the Government of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE as well as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone Authority
