Friday Sept 18: The Great Medoc Wines
-Breakfast at hotel
-8:00am: Depart for the Medoc
-9:00am: Visit and tasting at La Winery with owner Philippe Raoux. Mr Raoux, a Bordeaux visionary, will talk to us about his various recent innovative ventures including La Winery and the Wine Sign.
-11:00am: Cellar visit and tasting at Chateau Lynch Bages, Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac
-12:00pm: Lunch at the Cafe Lavinal, hosted by Jean-Charles Cazes, owner of Lynch-Bages
-3:00pm: Cellar visit and tasting at Chateau Margaux, Premier Grand Crus Classé
-4:00pm: Cellar visit and tasting at Chateau Palmer, Grand Cru Classé
-5:30pm: Return to hotel
-8:00pm: Informal dinner at La Tupina, voted a “World Top 10 Bistro” by the IHT. Presentation on Franco-Americans in the region by Kenneth Forder, US Consul to Bordeaux (tbc)
Saturday Sept 19: The Grands Crus of Saint-Emilion
-Breakfast at hotel
-8:00am: Depart for Saint Emilion
-10:00am: Cellar visit and tasting at Chateau Angelus, Grand Cru Classée Saint-Emilion. Hosted by Hubert de Bouard, owner of Chateau Angelus (tbc)
-11:00am: Cellar visit and tasting at Chateau Fonplegade, Grand Cru Classé Saint-Emilion.
-12:30pm: Lunch at Chateau Teyssier, location of Crushpad Bordeaux's winery. Top-rated winemaker and Chateau Teyssier owner Jonathan Maltus will present his wines and discuss the changing distribution climate in Bordeaux. Stephen Bolger will also present Crushpad Bordeaux.
-2:30pm: Free visit of the mediaeval village of Saint Emilion (UNESCO World Heritage site)
-5:00pm: Return to the hotel before dinner
-7:00pm: Depart for Quinsac, in the Entre-Deux-Mers region.
-8:00pm: “Cocktail dinatoire” (champagne and dinner) with your host Stephen Bolger at his home, Chateau Peconnet, overlooking the city of Bordeaux in the heart of the Entre deux Mers region. Presenter to be confirmed.
Sunday Sept 20: Optional visit of Bordeaux
-Breakfast at hotel
-10:00am: Walking tour of Bordeaux, classified UNESCO World Heritage, with the Bordeaux tourist office. Cost: €10pp
-Lunch and free afternoon
€530 per person (based on a minimum of 16 attendees). Price includes all winery visits and tastings, Friday and Saturday lunch and dinner and transportation to all tastings and events. Hotel and breakfast are not included. Sunday morning visit of Bordeaux is optional. Please contact Stephen Bolger for more information.
