Why:

There are moments in history when the needs of an age prompt lasting, positive innovation in finance – from ideas as big as the invention of money, to the creation of new institutions such as banks and insurance firms, to the development of new products and services such as mortages, pensions, and mutual funds. Impact investing is one of these world-changing innovations, and now is truly an innovative time for impact investing which is transforming the way we finance business and philanthropy.

Come hear economic development experts, venture capitalists, social media technology experts and others discuss the opportunities and what we can do to make Houston a center for this innovation.

Who:

The audience for the convening will seek to bring together entrepreneurs, angel investors, private equity groups, venture capital funds, banks, business accelerators, foundations, academia, and government representatives to explore cutting edge investing theory and practice, the role of social media technology, the changing regulatory environment and current opportunities and challenges in investing and raising capital for entrepreneurial ventures both commercial and social enterprise.
