Hélène Ploix (Speaker)
Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur, an Officer de l'Ordre National du Mérite and a member of the Académie des Technologies, Hélène Ploix is a pioneer who has made significant contributions to the financial industry in France. A graduate of the Institut des Etudes Politiques, Paris (Sciences Po), Ms. Ploix also holds a Masters of Business Administration from the INSEAD and a Master of Arts in Public Administration from UC Berkeley.
Throughout her storied career, Ms. Ploix has held numerous influential positions. She began her executive career with McKinsey & Company in Paris and spent eight years with the firm.
Subsequently, she served as Technical Advisor for the French Government in the Cabinet of the State Secretary for Consumer Affairs. Following her public service, she joined the Banque Industrielle et Mobilière Privée (BIMP) and served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 1982 to 1984. She made a return to government service working in the Cabinet of the French Minister under Laurent Fabius as a Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Economic Financial Affairs.
In 1986, Ms. Ploix joined the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank as an Executive Director until the end of 1989.
The six years following, she worked at the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations as Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Banking and Financial Activities. In that capacity, she was Chairman of CDC Participations, Chairman of the Advisory Board of CDC Gestion and Chairman of the Caisse Autonome de Refinancement. Her responsibilities included serving on the Board of Directors of both Accor and La Poste.
From 1989 to 1995 she was a Special Advisor for the single currency with KPMG Peat Marwick.
Board Mandates
Since 2004, Hélène Ploix has served as Chairman of Pechel Industries Partenaires, the management company of the Pechel funds.
Additionally, she is a member of the Advisory Board of Publicis. She is also a Non-Executive Director of BNP Paribas, Lafarge, Ferring (non-listed Swiss pharmaceutical laboratory), Sofina (Belgium), and Genesis Emerging Markets, Limited.
She was a member of the Investments Committee of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund until December 2010 as well as being a member of the Independent Expert Oversight Advisory Committee (IEOAC) of WHO until December 2012.
She is also a member of the Ethics Committee of MEDEF.
