Barrel is located in the heart of Capitol Hill in Washington DC, only a 3 minute walk from the Eastern Market metro station (blue/orange/silver lines). Street and metered parking are also available.
Event Details
Ever wondered what else is out there besides Jim Beam? A classic of course, but the world of bourbon is vast and getting even bigger and more interesting. For anyone who has a curiosity about bourbon or is an experienced bourbon drinker looking to double down on the good stuff, this bourbon tasting is for you.
Our tasting lineup was curated to include a variety of brands, mash bills, proofs, and price points. Among the bourbons we'll try, some have well-established reputations and are highly sought after while others are still emerging and coming into their own. As this is an event hosted by the Chicago Booth Women's Network, the lineup will also include a pour that celebrates the growing impact and contributions of women in the industry.
The 6-bourbon tasting package will include pours from the following brands, among others:
- Weller
- Col EH Taylor
- Bomberger's
- Booker's
For those who would like to try a limited release "premium" bourbon, we are also offering a 7-bourbon tasting package that will include the 6-bourbon tasting package + one additional "bonus" pour from Parker's Heritage.
Light snacks will be provided prior to the tasting, but food will not be served during the tasting.
We welcome alums, students, and their guests to join for what promises to be an evening of good cheer with new and old friends...and some knockout bourbon!

Other Information
Capacity is limited to 32 participants. In the case that inventory for the current tasting lineup runs low, the venue will provide a comparable substitute approved by the event organizers. The tasting is guided by Barrel's staff and will begin promptly at 6pm.
