Predictive and actionable data is a competitive weapon for any modern business, and leaders need to know how to build their business to take advantage of it.
In this talk, Aaron Williams, VP of Global Community at MapD, will explore about how we got to where we are with big data today - what businesses are collecting and how they're putting it to use. Mainly, focusing on three major advances that are transforming big data into actionable data: Graphical Processing Units (GPUs) that make databases more than 100x faster (NVDA stock hasn't just skyrocketed because of gaming sales), visual analytics tools that bring instant business insight to the data, and machine learning algorithms that are just starting to unlock entirely new predictive modeling.

Aaron is responsible for MapD's developer, user and open source communities. He comes to MapD with more than two decades of previous success building ecosystems around some of software's most familiar platforms. Most recently he ran the global community for Mesosphere, including leading the launch and growth of DC/OS as an open source project. Prior to that he led the Java Community Process at Sun Microsystems, and ecosystem programs at SAP. Aaron has also served as the founding CEO of two startups in the entertainment space. Aaron has an MS in Computer Science and BS in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.
