Event Details
Join fellow Booth alums for a highly interactive lunch discussion of current issues in economics and finance, based on weekly online commentary published by Gary Becker and Richard Posner (http://www.becker-posner-blog.com/). The meeting format is based on our highly successful Friday morning strategic management discussions where participants are invited to read a short selection of readings and then contribute to a one-hour facilitated discussion on the selected topic.
The initial discussion in this series will focus on the current financial crisis with particular attention to the implications and long-term consequences of the government’s response. The discussion will consider issues such as independence of the Federal Reserve, considerations regarding repayment of TARP funds, and other related topics. Links to specific readings are listed on the Chicago Booth Alumni Club event page (Click on register online below to view the page).
Registration for these loop (LaSalle Street) sessions is limited to twenty people so that everyone has ample opportunity to participate in the discussion. The registration fee includes a box lunch for all participants.
We believe that "no one is as smart as everyone" and that we learn by sharing our perspectives and experiences. We have also found that these discussions are an effective and enjoyable way to build a substantive network among fellow alums.
Note: These meetings operate much like a book club and will not feature scheduled speakers. We are discussing WRITTEN COMMENTARY by professors Becker and Posner. They will NOT be physically present at these sessions, and have neither endorsed nor discouraged these meetings.
$15 - Box lunches will be provided.
