Are GRE or GMAT scores required?

A

We do not require GRE or GMAT scores.

Is an entrance exam required?

A

No, we do not require an entrance exam. Most of our courses are open enrollment, meaning after you submit the registration form you are enrolled in the course. For application programs, you must complete the application form, and you will receive a response from the admissions committee.

I don’t see an agenda online. What are the start and end times?

A

In general, classes start at 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. Monday - Thursday, and start at 8 a.m. and end at Noon on Friday. A detailed agenda will be in the preread.

What if I need to leave earlier on Friday to catch a plane?

A

Please consult with the director of the program.

What is the usual class size?

A

Most classes run with 35 to 50 participants.

Do the same faculty teach in the Chicago, Hong Kong, London, and Singapore programs?

A

Yes. For example, all courses taught in Hong Kong will be taught by Chicago Booth faculty, who will fly to Hong Kong to teach in person, just as they do in London and Chicago. This gives students direct access to teaching by some of the best business school faculty in the world.

Are the programs taught in English?

A

Yes, all program and course materials are in English for the open enrollment programs. We can work with translators for custom programs if required.

I want to arrange some dinner meetings while I'm in town, are there any nights that have group work or long assignments?

A

For most of the programs, group work is scheduled during the day. A few programs have group work in the evening. The pre-read contains articles for the first few nights' assignments. You can read those articles ahead of time and schedule any meetings the first few evenings.

Is there any work I have to do before the program starts?

A

For most of the programs, there are articles to be read before the program starts. These articles will be available about four to five weeks prior to the program start date.

Do I receive any credit for attending a program?

A

We offer only nondegree programs. Certificates stating that the participants attended the program are given out at the end of the program. The exceptions are the programs CPWA and CIMA. Each program has a certification process; consult the program’s site for more details.

I will need to keep up with work from the office. How much homework is there?

A

For most programs, homework would be reading articles to prepare for the next day; you should anticipate 1-2 hours of reading per evening.

What is the dress code?

A

The dress code is business casual. This means no suits and no jeans.

A

Do you accept Purchase Orders?

A

We accept purchase orders; there is a space to put the purchase order number on the online registration form. If you wish to fax in your registration, you can fax the purchase order along with your registration form.

The price of the program on the brochure I have is different from the one listed online. Which is correct?

A

The price on the website is most current, as the website is frequently updated.

When is payment due?

A

Payment is due prior to program commencement. We accept several payment methods: wire transfer or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express). Credit card payments for Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover may be made online at the time of registration.

When you register, you will receive a confirmation and link to an invoice via email.

Something came up, and I am needed in the office. I would like to postpone my attendance. What are my options?

A

Substitutions of registrants in a nonapplication program may be made, without penalty, any time prior to the program's commencement. Transfer requests received within 30 days of the program start will be subject to a $200.00 transfer fee. To transfer to a later date, send a written request by email or fax 312.464.8769 stating that you are unable to attend and the dates of the program to which you would like to transfer.

If you wish to cancel, send written notification to our office. Tell us the name of the participant and the program for which the participant is currently registered. Cancel requests received within 30 days of the program start will be subject to a 25 percent cancellation charge. Any late transfers followed by a cancellation will be charged 25 percent of the current program fee.

When is the deadline for registrations?

A

There is no definite deadline, but we recommend that you register at least five weeks in advance; at that time we mail out pre-reading materials, and you will have time to prepare for the class and to reserve accommodations.

How far away are Midway and O'Hare Airports?

A

Midway Airport is approximately 12 miles (~20km) from Gleacher Center. O'Hare Airport is approximately 18 miles (~29km) from Gleacher Center. The links below provide for more information on both airports, maps, and options for transportation to your hotel or Gleacher Center.

Where is the best place to stay?

A

We have a room block through the Intercontinental Hotel for each program with discounted nightly rates. Please see your confirmation email for the link to the reservation page or contact us directly. For other recommendations please contact us at 312.464.8732.

I am taking the Metra/CTA to get downtown. How far away is the train station?

A

The closest CTA Red line subway station is located at Grand and State. The station located at Lake and State is also within walking distance. The closest CTA Green, Pink, and Brown line stations are also at Lake and State.

The CTA Blue line goes to O'Hare Airport; the closest station is Clark and Lake.The CTA Orange line goes to Midway Airport. The closest station is at State and Lake.

The closest Metra stations are Union Station or Ogilvie. From the Metra stations, you can take a taxi to Gleacher Center. If you choose to walk from Union Station, it's about a 25-30 minute walk.

Where is the Hong Kong campus?

A

You will find the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Hong Kong location at 100 Cyberport Road in Cyberport 2.  This is a state-of-the-art interim campus. How far away is the underground (also known as the ‘tube’) from the London campus?

A

Bank tube station is a 5 minute walk from campus (refer to our campus information page) and has the following lines: central, northern, circle, district, Waterloo & city and DLR.

Moorgate tube station is a 5 minute walk from campus (refer to our campus information page) and has the following lines: northern, circle, metropolitan, Hammersmith & city, national rail.

St. Pauls is a 10 minute walk from campus and has the central line.
