We will discuss what's new in marketing research pertaining to innnovation and new products, how digital media strategies implement this and how real startups in NYC put this all to practice!

We have 3 exciting panelists for 1 hour of presentations and Q&A:

  • Olivier Toubia - Glaubinger Professor of Business, Columbia Business School 
    Professor of Marketing, with a keen interest in anything related to innovation, new products and marketing. All based on facts and research, just the way we like it.
  • Eric Samson - Founder, Managing Director, Group8A
    Are you still unclear on how social media marketing works? SEO? ASO? Engagement, Conversion and CTRs? Eric is one of the city's leading social media marketing experts and will share his experience.
  • Max Schuetz - Co-Founder, Kisi
    The daily grind of selling: How do you take academic research and social media efforts to the street to sell a highly innovative product?

Olivier Toubia (Panelist)
Glaubinger Professor of Business, Columbia Business School

Olivier Toubia is the Glaubinger Professor of Business at Columbia Business School. His research focuses on various aspects of innovation (including idea generation, preference measurement, and the diffusion of innovation), social networks and behavioral economics. He teaches a course on Customer-Centric Innovation and the core marketing course, in the MBA and Executive MBA programs. He received his MS in Operations Research and PhD in Marketing from MIT.

Eric Samson (Panelist)

Eric is the founder and MD of Group8A, a Boutique Consulting firm focused on developing and executing integrated marketing and digital solutions for companies of all sizes. Group 8A focuses on going beyond best practices and understanding clients' and then tailoring solutions specifically to their needs.

Eric brings over 10 years of experience in the social media and digital marketing arena, and has worked with many startups to implement their marketing strategies in a new virtual (business) world.

Andre Konig (Moderator) '04
CEO, BrainTracer

André is the CEO & Co-Founder of BrainTracer, LLC, a mHealth company dedicated to help people suffering from depression.

To this role he brings over 10 years of management consulting and venture experience, most recently as Country Manager for SSA & Co, the leading operations consulting firm and inventor of the Six Sigma methodology. In that role he was responsible for starting and managing offices in Paris, London, Munich and Milan – working with clients in Commercial and Corporate Banking, Healthcare, Automotive, Industrial and Professional Services. Prior to that he led the brand transition from Six Sigma Academy to SSA & Co, and also supported the growth of its Private Equity practice founded in 2011. Previously, he worked at RCBG, a technology consultancy in Chicago, and Accenture in Paris.

André holds a MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a MS from ICN School of Management. He is fluent in German, French and English; and conversational in Italian.
