"The leader and the current societal transformation"

The leader embodies the company and its positioning in the markets where it operates. But in recent years, particularly since the beginning of the crisis that began in 2008, all benchmarks have changed, nothing seems to work as before. New models are installed, new approaches are inevitably generating a new form of leadership. The theme of this intervention is to try to identify the challenges facing the modern leader and discover some key areas for consideration.

Gerald Karsenti (Speaker)
CEO of Hewlett Packard France

A graduate of IEP Paris (Sciences Po Paris, PhD), Gerald Karsenti also holds a Master of Management from HEC Paris, a degree from Oxford University, a Master in Finance from the IAE of Paris and a master in business economics from the University of Nantes Initially, he spent 17 years at IBM successively holding positions as Vice President and Director within the Group's various business entities. He has also held international responsibilities, especially in Japan, Russia, Europe and the United States. In this last international mission, based in New York, he was the Vice President of WW Sales and SME partners for IBM Software Group division and oversaw nearly 3,000 people spread over three geographies, EMEA, Americas and Asia.

Before joining HP, Gerald Karsenti was the president of the subsidiary of Cap Gemini Sogeti "Application Services SAS," a 2,500 people company, specialized in the activities of technological proximity services, ERP and testing.

Gérald joined HP as the Vice President and General Manager of the Sales Enterprise Business in January 2007, where he oversaw all sales for all customer segments (hardware, software and services).

In October 2010, he took the charge of the Enterprise Services Division as the vice president and general manager, a position he served until the end of March 2013, in parallel to his current responsibilities.
Gerald Karsenti was appointed in July 2011 as the CEO of HP France and vice president of the corporate market.

Member of the Société des Gens de Lettres, of the Cercle and of l'Institut de l'Entreprise, he is the author of three business books: "La fin du paradoxe de l'informatique" published in 1999, "Model 4X4", a book on management change,"Le Business Model des Services", published in 2011

Affiliate Professor at HEC Paris, Gérald Karsenti is also a member of the research center RIO (Research on Individuals & Organizations) at HEC Paris

Since September 2014, Gerald Karsenti is the Chairman of the Leadership Circle, which aims to bring together leaders of large companies interested in promoting a vision and innovative actions in the field of management and leadership.
