Speaker Profiles

Gerhard Hrebicek (Moderator)
President, Iconvienna

Is President of iconvienna. He has been working as an international Manager and Executive Director since 1988 in several industrial and brand companies. In 1996 he started his own business group with specialisation in international business, value based management, and brand valuations as a source for corporate development. Furthermore he is CEO of the European Brand Institute.

Michael W. Hanemann (Speaker)

Chancellor’s Professor, Agricultural and Resource Economics & The Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California Berkeley (UCB). He is the Director of the California Climate Change Center at UCB. Dr. Hanemann has received numerous awards for his research and work in environmental studies and resource economics. He is a past and present advisor and member of several institutions and government agencies, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Alois Steinbichler (Speaker)

Has been Chairman of the Executive Board of Kommunalkredit Austria since November 7, 2008. He began his career with Continental Illinois Bank, Chicago, and State Street Bank, Boston, in Vienna, London and Zurich. Since 1987 he has worked in various senior positions in a number of banks, including Creditanstalt, Bank Austria Creditanstalt International, and UniCredit.

Stefan P. Schleicher (Speaker)

Is Professor of Economics at the Wegener Center on Climate and Global Change and at the Economics Department at the University of Graz, Austria. He serves as a consultant to the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) in Vienna. He held academic positions at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna, the University of Bonn, the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and Stanford University. His research focuses on economic modelling and economic policy issues with special emphasis on sustainable structures in the context of energy, climate, and security.

Arno Scharl (Speaker)

Is the Vice President of MODUL University Vienna, where he also heads the Department of New Media Technology. Prior to his current appointment, he held professorships at the University of Western Australia and Graz University of Technology, was a Key Researcher at the Austrian Competence Center for Knowledge Management, and a Visiting Fellow at Curtin University of Technology and the University of California at Berkeley. His current research interest focuses amongst others on virtual communities and environmental online communication.
