Event Details

Associate Vice President for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, John Flavin will address the City Club of Chicago, the city's preeminent public affairs forum, on how the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Chicago is driving the creation of new businesses and economic development on Chicago's South Side.

Universities today are in an innovation arms race. Faculty and students increasingly demand and expect support for moving their ideas to impact. Our startups are developing life-saving cancer therapeutics, improving disease diagnostics, increasing the quality of education, creating clean energy solutions, and more.

Meanwhile, by investing in these student- and faculty-led ventures, the university is maximizing the impact of its research, attracting top faculty and students, and remaining connected with alumni, corporations and regional partners.

At the City Club, Flavin will talk about his global ambitions for the Polsky Center — one that combines the commercialization of faculty research with Chicago Booth's world-class accelerator and a 34,000-square-foot co-working hub for community entrepreneurs and students alike.
