Event Details

Yogurt Industry landscape: The study is an in-depth analysis of the United States yogurt market over a two year span (2011-2012). During this period, immense changes occurred within the marketplace: (1) sales of traditional yogurt styles that have been mainstays see steady decline, (2) new styles of yogurts (organic and Greek) emerge as alternatives, and (3) new players enter the market and threaten the market share of major conglomerates such as Yoplait and Danone. The analysis performed leverages advanced statistical techniques to understand competition and pricing within the yogurt industry during this period. Models used to better understand the competition include multiple regression, price elasticity and hierarchical clustering.

Early detection of Sepsis: Sepsis is a dangerous medical condition with a high mortality rate and is increasing in cases each year. The goal of the research is to develop a risk stratification model to identify patients that are high risk in developing sepsis as early detection of sepsis can effectively reduce the mortality and morbidity rate of patients. A risk stratification model was created to improve the accuracy of identifying patients that are at high risk in acquiring sepsis prior to the earlier stages of the known symptoms.
