Mr. Gan has been a Managing Partner and a member of the investment committee of Qiming Venture Partners since 2006. Mr. Gan has been named as a top venture capitalist globally three years in the row by Forbes Magazine’s Midas List, and was ranked #5 in 2019. He has been named a top ten venture capitalist in China by multiple magazines and institutions including Forbes China, ChinaVenture, Zero2IPO Group, 36Kr, and CBN Weekly. His successful investments include BiliBili (NASDAQ: BILI), Dianping.com (HKEX: 3690), Mogu Inc. (NYSE: MOGU), Meitu Inc. (HKEX: 1357), Ctrip.com International Limited (NASDAQ: CTRP, a director since 2001), Jiayuan.com, PPS Inc. (acquired by iQiyi), and ATL.
Previously, Mr. Gan spent five years at The Carlyle Group and was a Director and founding member of Carlyle’s Asian venture fund. He also worked at KongZhong Corporation as its Chief Financial Officer, as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch, and as a consultant at then-Price Waterhouse.
Mr. Gan obtained his BBA from the University of Iowa and his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, of which he is a member of the Global Advisory Board.
