John A. Edwardson, '72

Mr. Edwardson was chairman and chief executive of CDW, a leading provider of technical products and services for business, government, and education from 2001 to 2011. He remained chairman until he retired in 2012. Earlier in his career, he was president of United Airlines, chief financial officer of Northwest Airlines, chairman and chief executive officer of Burns International Services, and executive vice president of Ameritech, now part of AT&T. He currently serves on the board of directors of FedEx Corporation and Chubb Ltd. He also serves on the board of trustees for The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Ravinia Festival, and the University of Chicago. He was the 2006 recipient of Chicago Booth’s Distinguished Corporate Alumnus Award. Mr. Edwardson is a 1971 graduate of Purdue University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. Mr. Edwardson has been a member of the Council on Chicago Booth since 1995 (Life Member) and served as chair from 2010 to 2015.
