Lynne Herer Smith, ’86

Lynne Herer Smith, ’86, is a director at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where she leads the team that designs, tests, and implements improved business practices.
Smith joined the foundation in 2012 as a deputy director in finance and strategy and has served in several roles, including establishing a formal prototype program for internal initiatives.
Prior to the foundation, she was a managing director at Jones, Lang, LaSalle, a global real estate investment firm, responsible for strategic consulting for public, private, and government clients. Smith has also held roles in strategy, portfolio management, and finance with investment management organizations and has served as a professor at DePaul University in Chicago.
Smith received an MBA in finance and strategy from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BS in finance from the University of Florida.
