Alumni Breakfast SeriesThe Alumni Breakfast Series provides a relaxed and informal setting where students can learn from the personal and professional experiences of high-achieving alumni leaders in a wide range of industries, including CPG, technology, retail, and entrepreneurship.

Limited to small groups of students and alumni, these intimate breakfasts take place at Gleacher Center during the academic year. They are cohosted by the Kilts Center and Booth’s Alumni Relations team.

Featured alumni have included Scott Uzzell, ’98, president of venturing and emerging brands at the Coca-Cola Company, who discussed his experience heading marketing and strategy efforts in the food and beverage industry for more than 20 years, and Eileen Serra, ’80, senior advisor at JPMorgan Chase & Co., who shared insights from her 20-plus years of experience leading top finance companies like Merrill Lynch, Frontline Capital, and American Express.

KURT T. SCHMIDT, ‘90 (XP-59) | December 4


Kurt T. Schmidt served as a director and Chief Executive Officer of Blue Buffalo Company, Ltd. from 2012 through 2016. Prior to joining Blue Buffalo, Mr. Schmidt was Deputy Executive Vice President at Nestlé S.A., where he was responsible for the Nestlé Nutrition division and served as a member of the company’s Executive Committee. Mr. Schmidt joined Nestlé in 2007 as part of its acquisition of Gerber Products from Novartis, where he was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Gerber Products Company from 2004 to 2007. 

He is also an investor and advisory Board Member to several startups.

Terry Peigh

Terry Peigh, ‘76

Senior Vice President, Managing Director, Interpublic Group

Terry is Senior Vice President, Managing Director at Interpublic Group. Currently, Terry serves as IPG’s senior-most corporate executive overseeing the company’s relationship with some of its largest clients. In this capacity, Terry leads a team of multiple IPG units that provide a fully integrated marketing communications offering. In addition, Terry leads IPG’s thought-leadership/strategy program called New Realities, which defines the major changes affecting today’s and tomorrow’s marketing world, and puts forward IPG’s point of view on how best to meet these new challenges via marketing communications.

Terry first joined IPG in early 2003, and served as SVP, Director of Corporate Services with responsibility for management of the company’s global real estate, procurement, IT, travel and marketing information services. In this capacity, Terry served on IPG’s Executive Committee and worked with the CEO and executive team on a range of corporate strategy issues.Prior to joining Interpublic, Terry was Executive Vice President of Foote Cone and Belding Worldwide, and a member of their Board. His responsibilities included FCB global operations, and the leadership of some of their major accounts.

Terry was EVP, Director of Corporate Operations of True North Communications (which was acquired by Interpublic in 2001), where he was a member of the True North Management Board, with a direct reporting relationship to the Chairman/CEO. Here, Terry created the company’s first-ever shared service group, as well as led its human resources, IT and real estate functions. Terry’s corporate responsibilities also included management of True North’s Corporate Communications Group, which helped shape public and Wall Street perceptions of the company. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of NASDAQ-listed Modem Media – a digital communications company owned in part by True North.

Terry received his BS from Northwestern University in 1974. In 1976, he was awarded an MBA, with honors, from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business where he concentrated in marketing and finance.

Colin Kinsella

Colin Kinsella, '89

Chief Executive Officer, Mindshare North America

Since July 2013, Colin Kinsella has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Mindshare North America, a New York-based media agency with clients as diverse as CVS Health, AMEX, Unilever and Nordstrom with billings over $2 billion. Colin manages Mindshare operations across NA under the umbrella of WPP, one of the world's top communications services companies.

Under Colin's leadership, the company has refined its adaptive marketing philosophy, centering it on an "always-on, always ready" approach that employs real-time consumer data to initiate, refine and optimize client marketing efforts. His strategies have increased innovation, sustainable success and several new business wins. One of his first accomplishments was to realign management to improve response times to clients. He appointed the agency's first Chief Data Officer and Chief Content Officer to emphasize the increasing importance of adaptive marketing that taps into the power of social media, data and content. He redesigned hiring strategies, creating competency tests to measure an applicant's intelligence, determination and drive. In 2013, the innovative work produced by the company's NA offices captured 34 industry awards.

Prior to taking the lead at Mindshare, Colin earned a reputation for reconfiguring at-risk businesses and honed his expertise in digital, social media, brand building and ROI marketing models. Colin served as North American Chief Executive Officer for Publicis Group's Digitas, the largest digital agency in North America. In that role, he fostered considerable growth and innovation, introducing BrandLIVE, a proprietary platform that combined social and content strategies with the response times of a news organization. In 2012, he oversaw the best year in the company's history, with $70 million in net new business from clients such as Sprint, Goodyear, Aflac and Panasonic. Colin also led the expansion of the digital NewFronts to become an annual marketplace for digital publishers and agencies.

In 2009, after having served as President of the West region for the full-service digital agency Razorfish, Colin was named its Global Chief Innovation Officer. In that capacity, he directed the use of analytics, strategy, delivery, media and technology to enhance customer experiences for clients. Before joining Razorfish, Colin led the creative, strategic and business-to-business efforts at QuinStreet, a startup specializing in online marketing and technology. Colin also spent 14 years in leadership roles with Foote, Cone & Belding offices in San Francisco, Chicago and London, where he led the company's expansion throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Colin earned an MBA from the University of Chicago and a B.S. from the University of Dayton. He makes his home in Connecticut.

David Neenan

David Neenan, '95

President, International, TransUnion

David Neenan is President of TransUnion International and has over 25 years of experience in the Financial Services Industry working across multiple geographies. In his role, Mr. Neenan is responsible for the management, growth and business strategy of the company's International operations spanning five continents.

Prior to joining TransUnion in 2012, Mr. Neenan was the Global Chief Operations Officer for HSBC's insurance division, based in London. Prior to the COO role, he was the Global Head of Sales & Marketing for Insurance and held a number of senior leadership roles including President and CEO HSBC Finance, Canada, EVP of the Core Credit Card business in Oregon, and HSBC's Credit Card Insurance Division. Before joining HSBC, Mr. Neenan worked at Bank of Ireland and the Boston Consulting Group where he was an active member of the Financial Service Practice, and completed a number of projects in retail banking, consumer credit and insurance.

Mr. Neenan holds a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a master's degree in Marketing from Kingston University.
