The Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence and Professor Sendhil Mullainathan are recruiting user experience interns to help design online user experiences. We want to build interactive storytelling pages that communicate our research to a broad audience, using engaging elements to bring our projects to life. Some of the projects we have in development include a storytelling and community site for our healthcare bias work, a sequence of interactive discovery games about humans and AI, and a site for algorithmically modifying your next chocolate chip cookie.

The successful candidate will work with our research team of economists, data scientists, and web developers in a mostly remote lab setting. They will help design and implement a public-facing web page that explains the research and its significance, and allows visitors to engage with the insights.

The role is ongoing with opening(s) available June 1.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing accessible, engaging and beautiful web applications for a public audience
  • Producing mockups or wireframes to communicate your vision for the application
  • Communicating the motivation for your design to researchers
  • Collaborating with developers to implement your design
  • Working within the style and vision of the Center
