The Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence and its healthcare data team Nightingale Open Science are recruiting a summer intern to contribute to a set of healthcare data projects from a business/policy perspective. Nightingale Open Science has created and is scaling up a health data platform to allow researchers access to medical data from a global network of health partners for machine learning research to discover new medical knowledge. At the Center, we focus on the human aspect of AI and the many ways in which AI can augment human decision-making. Our work furthers ethical and equitable uses of machine learning to improve human life, and we support a diverse array of research projects involving the use of AI in healthcare and other domains.

 

The successful candidate will work with the Nightingale team of data scientists, engineers, and its director in a remote setting. They will be comfortable in a startup environment and have experience working with health data from a research, policy, or legal standpoint. 

 

The role is up to full-time during Summer Quarter with opening(s) available June 1. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Business Development:
    • Propose specific opportunities for engagement with health systems, governmental partners, and other entities on the topics of open data sets, algorithmic bias and/or data governance.
  • Grantwriting:
    • Assist health data research team with federal and private foundation grantwriting efforts.
  • Outreach:
    • Assist in cultivation of institutional memberships with universities in the United States and abroad interested in using Nightingale for research and education.
