Brats, Brews, and Bonding
Pamela Olson, ’89
I purposely went back to school full-time to immerse myself into being a student again. To help with that immersion, I made a conscious effort to attend social activities such as Brats ‘n Brews, LPFs (Liquidity Preference Functions) , weekly Pub “meetings” in Ida Noyes and weekly “meetings” at Jimmy's. There was no shortage of social things to do with classmates.
Life revolves around people and relationships, NOT the grades you get. And, creating relationships takes effort and time. You never know where a connection will come from, the mutual experiences you will share or how long that relationship will last. I met two people at our B-school orientation that I’m STILL good friends with today! Over the years, I've enjoyed getting together with classmates in Europe and Asia and probably about 15 different states here in the US.
I’m always excited for our reunions and have attended every one. Our community grows tighter because of them. We shared classes, meals, drinks, activities, laughter, tears, and created memories together; we continue to add memories during each reunion. Our grad school experiences and related memories together connect and bond us. I enjoy having the chance to reconnect with classmates at reunions and am also reminded of what a special community we have together.
