Forming a team to compete in Chicago Booth-sponsored or national contests designed to showcase your business knowledge and skills is great preparation for your future. As a team, you will learn how to motivate people, build relationships, and lead. Here are some of the competitions in which Chicago Booth students have participated:

  • A.T. Kearney Global Prize - The A.T. Kearney Global Prize competition simulates an actual client engagement.
  • Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC) - Sponsored by the Polsky Center, the VCIC competition allows students to play the role of venture capitalists, interact with real-life entrepreneurs, evaluate potential investment opportunities, and be evaluated by actual investors.
  • Fortune Small Business Business Plan Contest - This event is designed to uncover the nation's most promising entrepreneurs.
  • Energy Finance Competition - This challenge tests MBA students from 16 of the nation's top business schools in a case based on the rapidly-growing energy industry.
  • The Edward L. Kaplan New Venture Challenge - Sponsored by Chicago Booth's Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship, many successful businesses have been started as a result of the visibility winning this leading business plan competition creates. More about the NVC.
  • JP Morgan Mergers and Acquisitions Challenge - Students work on a case created by the company, based on an actual deal.
  • IPO Challenge – Sponsored by the Investment Banking Group, this competition is designed to simulate the analysis, preparation, and delivery that investment bankers engage in when competing to win an IPO mandate.
