Matt_M. -> NicoWould I be able to setup a one on one interview? Should I apply before an interview?

M_Austin -> Jay JHello, thank you for taking to to participate in this chat. I was wondering how flexible the program is in terms of accommodating occasional work travel. It is possible to attend lectured remotely?
Jay J -> M_AustinM_Austin, our classes aren't available remotely, but there are 2-3 sections of the same course/lecture every week between our Evening, Weekend, and full time programs. If a student knows that they will miss a Tuesday evening course due to work travel, its easy to make it up on Saturday during the weekend program. I hope this helps.
Teddy -> KristaCan I apply to the evening program if I am planning on moving to Chicago before school would start? My job allows for flexibility in where I live.
Krista -> TeddyHi Teddy- Yes, you can certainly apply to the Evening MBA program. Please explain your current living situation in your optional essay so we understand your full story.
Lanre -> KaraI would like to know if possible I can request for Gmat waiver
Kara -> LanreLanre, thank you for joining our chat! The GMAT or GRE is required for all Evening MBA and Weekend MBA applicants. Our Executive MBA program offers the option to have the exam waived, but I defer to their team for details on the process. Feel free to email them at xp@chicagobooth.edu. The Evening MBA and Weekend MBA mid-80% GMAT range is 620-750.
Andrew -> KristaAre we able to apply to both the full-time and weekend programs at the same time? And if so, does it necessitate filling out two applications? Thank you.

Megan -> VJVJ: The cost per course is $6,076. You will need to take 20 courses to complete the program.
VJ -> NicoI intend to use my employer's tuition reimbursement for this course. But, they provide assistance only to a certain $ amount. I am on a work visa here. Are there financial options available for people on work visas?
Nico -> VJHi VJ! Chicago Booth is committed to providing financing opportunities for all students regardless of citizenship status and offers a loan program to international students with no US cosigners. International students who have US cosigners have multiple private loan options. More detailed information regarding these programs will be made available via the admitted students website upon admission to the program.

You can find our deadlines here: http://www.chicagobooth.edu/programs/evening/admissions
Raghu -> Jay JIs there a special financial plan that is offered to part time students
Jay J -> RaghuRaghu, most of our students will finance their MBA through 1) sponsorship through their employer 2) personal income/savings and 3) private loans. More information on financial aid can be found at http://www.chicagobooth.edu/programs/evening/admissions/tuition-financial-aid
Tim_K -> Jay JDo you have any ranges for admitted students' GRE scores yet?
Jay J -> Tim_KTim_K, We don't have the middle 80% range of admitted GRE scores yet, as we only have accepted GREs for about a year. You can easily google the GRE to GMAT conversion, however.
Andrew -> MeganWhat is the 80% range for college GPA? Thank you.
Megan -> AndrewHi Andrew, the 80% range for college GPA is 2.9-3.82.
Mr_Hayes -> KaraIf an entrance exam is required, what is the preferred test score? (for standardized tests such as the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, or MCAT)What percentage of students who applied last year were admitted?
Kara -> Mr_HayesMr. Hayes, the Evening MBA and Weekend MBA programs require the GMAT or GRE. Our mid-80% GMAT range is 620-750. We do not yet have a GRE average to share. We do look to see how it compares to a GMAT score by referring to the GRE to GMAT comparison tool https://www.ets.org/gre/institutions/about/mba/comparison_tool. We do not publish our acceptance rates.
Matt_M. -> KristaDo those attending full-time typically have internships throughout the school year/summer?

Rick -> KristaAre there any restrictions pertaining to using the company's funds to pay for the tuition fees?
Krista -> RickHi Rick: There are no restrictions to using company funding to pay for tuition. Students use a variety of methods to pay for tuition and company funding is one of them!
Julie -> Jay JI've heard that there is an optional PowerPoint presentation along with the interview. Is this the case for the part time evening program? I did not see it mentioned as part of the application.
Jay J -> JulieJulie, We don't have the option to use a PowerPoint during your interview. Our interviews are 45 - 60 min, one on one with an Admission Committee member (current student or alumni)
Marcelo_Gonçalez -> KaraHello! my name is Marcelo Gonçalez, writing from São Paulo, Brazil. I am applying to the Weekend MBA (Spring 2015) and I have the following question: is it required to be employed to apply? Do I need to submit a proof of employment?

Kumail -> MeganHello! How unique is to have 20-courses required for MBA?
Megan -> KumailHi Kumail: While you must take 20 courses to complete the program, there are 150 courses to choose from. You will need to take courses in: microeconomics, business statistics and financial accounting. If you have experience in any of those courses you can take a higher level
Terren -> NicoHi. I intend to apply for the weekend program that starts in Spring 2015. Assuming that I am admitted, do I absolutely have to start in Spring or can I wait until Fall? I like to start in Spring, but my work situation may not allow it.
Nico -> TerrenHi Terren! I ideally you would start during the quarter you are admitted, but you do have the ability to deffer until Fall 2015.
Tim_K -> KristaCan Part-Time students take courses with the Full-Time students if schedules permit or only on nights/weekends?
Krista -> Tim_KHi Tim_K: Yes, you are able to take classes across programs! If you have the flexibility to take a full-time course during the day then you're welcome to register for those classes.
Sujeesh -> Jay JI am located in Detroit. I am looking into weekend MBA program. I was wondering where these commuter students stay?
Jay J -> SujeeshSujeesh, most of our students will stay in a hotel where we have deals already contracted. You can see these at http://job.chicagobooth.edu/docs/Hotel_Program.pdf. Also, FYI, I will be in Detroit for an info session on 9/15!
ReneWinegar -> NicoIs it necessary to attend an information session prior to a class visit? I recently registered for a class visit but I noticed on the website that it mentioned attending an info session first. Unfortunately, I'm unable to attend the September info session.
Nico -> ReneWinegarHi ReneWinegar. We encourage you to attend an info session first, but it is not a hard requirement to attend a class visit.

I am confused between full time and part time and want to check - how soon can one complete the full time ( to stay min time away from work ) ?
Megan -> venkatVenkat: Full-Time is 2 year program. In the part-time programs, the standard for someone working is to take 2 courses/quarter consecutively to finish in 2.5 years, however, you can take more than 2 courses/quarter, but we do not recommed while working. If you have additional questions about full-time, please reach out to: admissions@chicagobooth.edu

M_Austin -> KristaDo you have any tips for writing the application essays? Are there specific traits the review board looks for in the applicants’ essays?
Krista -> M_AustinHi M_Austin: We are looking for thoughtful, concise, and authentic essays. Krista -> EveryoneHi VJ: I meant to say 4-6 weeks of when you submit.
Raghu -> Nicoso my recommendation from current employer may not be 100% accurate
Nico -> RaghuHi Raghu! It is preferred that you select a current manager/boss/supervisor. If you are new to an organization, feel free to use a recent past supervisor that can speak to your abilities.
We are seeking objectivity in the letter and we want to hear from someone who can assess both your strengths and your weaknesses. If you work for a family business or you own your own company, please try to secure a letter from a client or a bank that does business with you.
navi -> ModeratorWhat are the dates for Spring and Fall Weekend MBA programs for 2015?
Tim_K -> KristaHow does scheduling OCR interviews work for PT students and how does this differ from FT?
Krista -> Tim_KHi Tim_K: You have to have completed 10 courses to take part in OCR. You are eligible to part take in interviews just like the full-time students. The employer does not know if you are a part-time vs. full-time student.
Tim_K -> KaraWhat percentage of your graduating students on average change employers after graduation?
Kara -> Tim_KTim, this is somewhat difficult to answer, as our students graduate each quarter and this data is challenging to capture if they do not respond to our graduating student survey. In recent survey data, 62% received a promotion and 54% changed employers.
Teddy -> NicoAre certain prerequisite classes waived for students with undergraduate business degrees?
Nico -> TeddyHi Teddy! You will still have to complete 20 courses, but you will be able to waive prerequisites to more advanced courses.
Megan -> Everyonenavi: What are the dates for Spring and Fall Weekend MBA programs for 2015?
Navi: Weekend MBA Spring deadline is: Friday, January 9, 2015 and Weekend MBA Autumn 2015 deadline is: May 15, 2015
Yash -> Jay JJay , If I have a choice between Booth and Kellogg's , why do you think Booth is better than Kellogg's?
Jay J -> YashYash, we believe that our flexibility of format and curriculum allows our students to cater their MBA experience to their careers and professional goals. We also pride ourselves in the Chicago Approach which teaches you how to think; not what to think. Finally, the Booth network of over 49,000 alumni is invaluable.
Sanal_Kwatra -> Jay JNot sure if this has been asked.. But what is the average work-experience of people walking into the weekend/ evening program? and is there a certain number that the school prefers?
Jay J -> Sanal_KwatraSanal_Kwatra, the middle 80% of our students have 2 - 10 years of experience. We don't prefer any number of years of experience. We just want to diversify the people and experiences in our classrooms.
Abhi -> MeganWhat Pharma companies participate in placement session?
Megan -> AbhiAbhi: There are many, but a few are Ecolab, Abbvie, Lilly, Abbott.
Frank -> Jay JWhat sets Booth apart from the Average B-School? Is there curriculum more challenging (do Booth Students learn things that wouldn't be taught another school), or is it more a matter of Alumni, faculty and job opportunities?
Jay J -> FrankFrank, again, we believe that our flexibility of format and curriculum allows our students to cater their MBA experience to their careers and professional goals. We also pride ourselves in the Chicago Approach which teaches you how to think; not what to think. Finally, the Booth network of over 49,000 alumni is invaluable.
Bill -> KaraHow much study time can I assume outside of class time for the executive MBA program per week?
Kara -> BillBill, this varies from class to class. I'd say the average is 3-4 hours per class, per week. You have a great resource available, as all students report many details about courses: time spent out of class, rating of professor, how much group work, etc. This is very helpful in your course selection.
Brendan -> NicoWhat resources are there for Booth students who want to look for jobs specifically on the West and East coasts?
Nico -> BrendanHi Brendan! We have a career services department that consists of a comprehensive employer development team that provide career management and skill building programs. We also have a program called OnCampus Recruiting (OCR), which is a structured recruiting process for new jobs available to both Full-time and Part-time students. We also posted about 5,500 new jobs via our jobs database every year. Please find more info here: http://www.chicagobooth.edu/programs/evening/career/advancement
Tim_K -> KaraKara, if PT students do not use points to bid on interview slots, how does OCR interviews work for PT students?
Kara -> Tim_KTim, you are selected by the employer to interview based on your resume. Not all companies allow students to use bid points. Those using bid point were not originally selected to be interviewed by that employer.
Nico -> EveryoneThank you all for stopping by! If you are interested in visiting a class, please check out our schedule here: http://www.chicagobooth.edu/programs/evening/admissions/class-visit

Yash -> Jay JHi Kara , I am from computer science back ground , how difficult is it to change the stream of industry entirely ( ex: finance ) once I graduate with Finance concentration. do you have a data of students who have done this ?
Jay J -> YashYash, we have a number of students who change their careers drastically, I don't have the data off the top of my head
Brendan -> KaraBooth and Kellogg are the two premiere Chicago MBA programs. Do you have any thoughts on what would make a student a better fit at one program or the other? In other words, can you highlight any major differences you believe exist between the two programs?
Kara -> BrendanBrendan, I strongly suggest you visit an Info Sessions and class visits at each school as well as talk to alumni and current students. I am happy to set up a call or in person meeting to cover this further. Email me at Kara.Northcutt@chicagobooth.edu. .
Yash -> NicoKara , How much study time can I assume outside of class time for the weekend MBA program per week?
Nico -> YashHi Yash! Study time outside of class really depends on the course. as a student, you will access to estimated outside study time for each course. This is determined by student evaluations.
