Mentor Guidance
My Dougan Scholars mentor has helped me throughout the years by meeting with me several times every quarter and checking in on the classes I was taking. He has also looked out for me by sending me the course schedule prior to the start of the Fall quarter, giving me adequate time to look through course descriptions and professor descriptions. Furthermore, he was able to put me in touch with people in my course whom I did not know beforehand, allowing me to use his network and get my foot in the door in forming groups in classes (because so many of the courses have an emphasis on group work with respect to homework, cases, exams, etc.).
Why be a Dougan Scholar?
To be a Dougan Scholar means that you have taken it upon yourself to be the best student and leader you can be on campus. This program allows you to take the skillset developed inside and outside of the classroom and further develop those by being integrated into a community that is focused exclusively on making business leaders in the world. This is an extremely unique opportunity for undergraduates to have in the University of Chicago community. Therefore, I would encourage everyone who is looking to challenge themselves and make the most out of their college experience, to apply for the Dougan Scholars program.
Favorite Chicago Experience
One of my favorite Chicago experiences was my summer internship here in Chicago. I was an investment banking summer analyst at a Bulge Bracket bank in Chicago. I had a fellow Booth student in the office with me working as a summer associate, along with many Booth alumni. Having this connection before even doing any work is extremely valuable because we all come from the same community that values hard work, critical thinking, and striving for success.
