At Booth, I’m part of the women's program, which has turned out to be a huge benefit to me because it’s the only place I have found to find other women like me. So, women who have high powered jobs, who are also balancing work and school and family. And it’s been a really great place to learn tricks of the trade, of how you balance it, and just even to discuss the challenges of having to balance a very busy life.

One of the great things about Booth is that there is no stupid question, that they encourage you to explore and think about all the different aspects. So, as you then take that into the real world and into your job, you realize that sometimes what might appear as stupid questions and simple questions, actually uncover challenges and problems that weren’t apparent before.

Another event at the LAUNCH program, which I will never forget, was one where you’re in a group of 10, 15 people and you needed to do a scavenger hunt. Everyone was given a position and a role, and what you realize by the end of the exercise is every role was a leadership role, and every role was important. No matter where you are in an organization, your role is important and you can’t discount it because you need all of those roles. I will never forget that lesson. I still think about it every day.
Career Changes While at Booth
Booth exposed me to new jobs in industries I didn’t know were available. I was previously working at Goldman Sachs in the asset management group, and was introduced to investment consulting. Through the Booth network, I was able to get an interview with Mercer and I’m now director of client consulting.
Why Booth?
What stood out about Booth for me was the strong finance education and network that you get at Booth. Booth also offers the same professors in full-time classes and part-time classes so I didn't feel that I was going to get a pared down version of an MBA just because I was in a part-time program.
Lessons Learned at Booth
One of the important lessons I've learned since I've been at Booth is that just because you're not in a leadership position doesn't mean that you can't act and be a leader.
