Tell us about a couple of activities your club recently hosted

Teddy: Golf Club recently hosted an event with Student Advisory Council (SAC) Alumni affairs.  We had a great time out at the Glen Club, an 18-hole golf course outside of Chicago, where 16 of us got some tips on our golf swings from club professionals. Everyone enjoyed meeting new people in an outdoor environment, and the instructors were excellent.

Spoo: Running Club wrapped up our Winter Warrior Challenge; student Stephanie Wang ran 525 miles in three months! We also hosted a Booth Running Club 5K, 10K, and 13.1M series. Each runner ran one of the distances every month for three months. Our runners are busy training this summer for exciting fall races.

Charles: Tennis Club has been facilitating tennis meetups throughout Chicago; most recently we had an alumni mixer at Maggie Daley Park's tennis courts.

What do you have planned for the coming year?

Teddy: Golf Club will be hosting an event on August 6 at the Glen Club. It's going to be a social event on a driving range, with a couple of professionals to give instruction. We're also planning on having a Ryder Cup watching event --more details to come on that!

Spoo: Running Club is busy preparing for the Ragnar Relay happening in New Hampshire next month. We have two teams with 24 runners that will be covering about 200 miles. Several of our athletes are also running the Chicago Marathon, so we are pumped to celebrate our runners in these fall races.

Charles: In addition to indoor and outdoor tennis events year-round, this year the Tennis Club will be organizing a watch party for New York's US Open in early September.

"Chicago Booth attracts a lot of talented and competitive people. I've found most students at Booth enjoy sharing what they do well, and are very welcoming to other Boothies that want to learn their sport or participate in their activity."

— Teddy Stuebi

How do you characterize the Chicago Booth (athletic) community?

Teddy: Chicago Booth attracts a lot of talented and competitive people. I've found most students at Booth enjoy sharing what they do well, and are very welcoming to other Boothies that want to learn their sport or participate in their activity.

Spoo: Booth Running Club is a strong, diverse, and inclusive community of runners who inspire each other to commit to training/goals and run, rain or shine. We have run in negative windchills as well as hot and humid temperatures.

Charles: Chicago Booth is a community made up of unique individuals who are not only intelligent but active as well. The Tennis Club is only one of many outlets available to Chicago Booth students interested in pursuing active endeavors during their MBA programs. The Outdoors Club, Running Club, Golf Club, and Soccer Club are also fantastic organizations for Boothies to bond while staying active.

I will be glued to the screen watching these competitions during the Summer Olympics…

Spoo: I am rooting for every woman athlete in every sport. I am especially looking forward to Track and Field, Soccer, Badminton, Wrestling, Weightlifting, and Swimming competitions.

Charles: Mountain Biking, Surfing, Soccer
