Christopher Rider, Visiting Assistant Professor of Organizations and Markets, teaches in the Executive MBA program at Chicago Booth. Ryder joined the Goizueta Business School, his home institution, in 2008 after receiving a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business. He also holds a MBA from the University of Chicago and a BA in economics from the Johns Hopkins University.
Rider's research investigates how the prior experiences and social networks of organizational members influence individual outcomes like labor market mobility and status attainment; organizational behaviors like hiring, investing and pricing; and organizational outcomes like founding, resource acquisition and survival. He teaches classes to executives, government leaders, and business school students on business ethics, corporate social responsibility, social networks, and strategic management. He studies these issues in a variety of industries, including venture capital and private equity, legal services, footwear manufacturing, winemaking, and magazines.
Prior to his doctoral studies, Rider held strategic management positions at Classified Ventures, Intel Corporation, and Verizon Communications.
